Washing your face isn’t enough.

When you have acne-prone skin, you need to be more thorough in cleansing your face. Since having clogged pores is the most common cause of acne, you need to make sure you’re able to get all dirt, makeup residues and excess oil off of your pores.

One way you can do that is by applying a face mask a couple of times each week.

Choose a face mask made with clay since this ingredient can effectively draw out impurities. It can also help tighten the pores to make them less likely to get clogged.

As for the rest of your body, make sure you exfoliate two to three times a week. Wearing tight clothes, sweating excessively and getting exposed to pollution can all cause dirt and sweat to get trapped inside your pores.

You can exfoliate chemically using products with Alpha Hydroxy Acid. This ingredient penetrates the outer layer of the skin to break down or dissolve dead skin cells.

Since it only acts on the outer layer, this is considered a lot safer and more effective for your skin type.
