Astrid Brown is an author and a professional psychic/medium. Having a background in nursing she became interested in many holistic therapies, became a Reiki master and went on to become a college lecturer in holistic studies. Much of her work is inspired and channeled from spirit so it often has a philosophical slant. . She resides in the UK.

ON BEING A MEDIUM

Being a Medium, the word medium, literally translated means 'a vessel', and thats exactly what I am. I was born with an ability to be able to pick up very sensitive vibrations. All living things, animals, humans and plants vibrate and resonate at a given rate. Even so-called inanimate objects such as rocks, stones, water, and objects such as jewelry pick up and can hold the vibrations of living things. We are all energy made up of matter, from the basic elements we are all composed of atoms, molecules, which as you know resonate, vibrate. If you go back to basic anatomy and physiology our nerves work through small electrical charges through the interaction of small ions e.g. sodium and potassium, hey trying to keep this simple, but its a bit difficult lol. What I'm trying to say here is we generate a very small electrical charge.

In the 1960's Russia developed Kirlian photography which they demonstrated by using a plant, taking photos of the plant before and after removing some of its leaves using this special camera, they demonstrated an outline of where the leaf had been even though it no longer was physically there. There was an energy where the leaf had been. To put it simply this what happens you could say when we pass over to the other side when our earthly body dies. Our mind energy still exists. It is this energy that makes up our Auric field. We as humans are spirit in a physical human body

So what a Medium is able to do is a bit like a radio receiver, Everyone knows when you switch on a TV or radio you cant see the radio waves traveling through the atmosphere but when you switch the TV or radio on you see the picture or hear the music.

So all that I do is I pick up the vibrations from those disincarnate spirits and generally my aim is to prove survival evidence and I do it like this. Firstly I just ask who is around the person I am sitting for. I either see a picture of the spirit inside my head or I see them standing next to the person. So my first task is to describe what I see. I talk to them by asking the spirit what they passed over with, their cause of death, they either tell me, show me by pointing or whats worse impose what ailment they passed over with by making me feel it. I ask their name, where they lived, their age when they passed and I ask them what relationship they are to the sitter. I jokingly asked for address once and they gave me the full address,  you should have seen the sitter's face when I got that it was classic. I ask what they had done for a living etc. They often volunteer information, but you have to be very careful and be very responsible what you do with it. The person you are reading for may be having an affair and they could have their wife with them and so on. I go on chatting with them and, its a bit like interviewing the spirit to gain as much information as possible. I generally finish up but asking the spirit if they have a message to give the person. What you must then tell the person you are giving a reading for is they don't have to take the advice for if you didn't like what your Auntie Mary told you when she was alive, she doesn't change her character in death, it's only her opinion.

So you see my aim as a medium is to prove that life exists after physical death. Your loved ones will continue to love you in spirit just as they did whilst incarnate supporting and encouraging you, listening and watching over you just as they have always done, for time doesn't exist as a concept in spirit realms.
