The article below mine is from the Daily Mail.  I am often asked about Ouija boards, my advice is and I cannot stress this strongly enough DO NOT go anywhere near them.

With Halloween fast approaching, people love to hear spooky stories that send shivers down their spines.

And just in time, Reddit users have taken to the forum to share their creepiest tales of using a Ouija board, which people use to attempt to contact the dead.

There have been several threads asking users to share their strangest experiences when using the device, which has a planchett that spells out words based on questions that users ask.

With Halloween fast approaching, people love reading scary stories the use of Ouija boards always manages to conjure up plenty of those. Users have taken to Reddit to share their spookiest stories

The first one asked: 'Anyone have any personal ouija board experiences?' and the second said 'Paranormal fans, who has used an Ouija board? What was your experience(s)?'

Together, they have more than 200 comments from people and the stories are enough to make you never want to try it.

From predicting deaths to moving objects, it seems people have been put off using the Ouija board after their first time. 

One Reddit user took to the forum to tell a story they had 'always wanted to tell, but never had the opportunity' to.

The story is about their father who had been playing with an Ouija board with his friends when they were told one of the friend's fathers would die in the near future.

The next week, his father was struck down by a car and killed immediately. 

One group of friends were told by the board that they were being watched through the window and then the power went out

Another said they used an Ouija board when they were 12 or 13 years old and were at a friend's house.

They were messing around when they got the message: 'I can see you through your window' and then 'I can see through your eyes.'

It later said 'I'm under the car' and after going outside to peer under the vehicle, they saw a 'huge black stray cat which was hissing.'

They ran inside and at that moment all of the power went out. They stayed awake until dawn and never played with the board again.

Another user said not to persist when questioning an Ouija board as it lead to a glass being smashed in their hands

One user named Mathari said that some unexplained things went on in their house so they decided to use an Ouija board to try and figure out what they were dealing with.

'Bad idea', they said, 'What we didn't realise is that Ouija boards open the door for anything to come through and speak.'

The planchette then flew off the board and things got worse in the house, eventually leading to them moving out.

Another said the Ouija board spelled out the name 'Gemma Jane'. Their friend had been adopted and didn't know her biological family but found out later that her birth mother had in fact been named Gemma Jane Parham.

Their second story was about when their great aunt asked if she would get married to her boyfriend.The board said no and after being asked if they would break up, the board again said no.

When asked if one of them would die, it said yes. A week later the man died in a woodchipper accident.

One Redditor was 10 years old when their mother and her friends were using the 'Psychic circle' - which is similar to an Ouija board.

They were persistently asking the board the same question over and over again.

After a while, the 10-year-old went into the kitchen to pour themselves a drink. As they walked back to where their mother and friends were sitting, the entire glass shattered in their hands.

To this day, 'it still makes me feel uncomfortable', she added.

When user lenoresden was 14 or 15, she and her friend used an Ouija board one night.

After communicating with somebody, the next thing they knew it was 7am: 'It was like we blinked and the sun came up.'

They lost 10 hours of their lives and neither of them remember anything about it. 

After they posted their story to Reddit, they said they called their friend to ask if they remembered that night: 'She told me yes, and she didn't want to talk about it. EVER. Then she quickly told me she had to go and hung up.'

Two friends think they lost 10 hours of their life after using an Oujia board and said neither of them remember what went on during the night

Another two friends got freaked out when they asked if anyone was in the room with them and the board spelled out the name 'Ruth' - both of them had family members called Ruth who had died that year

One user said that she and a friend used an Ouija board in 6th grade. They asked if anyone was in the room with them and the planchette spelled out the name 'Ruth', which was her grandma's name and their friend's great-aunt's name. They had both died that year.

Describing the incident, they said: 'We threw the board back in the box and were totally freaked out.

'I brought it home and put it in my closet, but every time I looked at the box it gave me this horrible, creepy feeling, so I ended up throwing it in the dumpster a couple of years later.'

A woman who claims to have captured paranormal activity on camera says he is being haunted by the ghost of her dead brother with whom she had a troubled relationship.

Donna Ayres, 33, says she has moved house five times in order to try and escape the spirit, but it has followed her each time.

The mother-of-four, from Burnley, Lancashire, says she has been left with bruises from the ghoul, and on one occasion was pinned down to the bed.

The spoon appears to be dragged around by some unseen force before standing up on its end and beginning to spin around on its tip

She even claims to have captured some of the hauntings on film, including levitating spoons, light fixtures swinging from the ceiling, and a Ouija board flying across the room. Ms Ayres, who lives with partner Jason Heys, 45, said the disturbances began happening in 2009 around the time her brother Paul passed away.

She said: 'Ever since my brother died strange things have occurred in every house I’ve lived in, it’s been a living hell. 

Among the spooky happenings that Ms Ayres has recorded is a light fixture swinging from the ceiling

'Probably the worst time was when I was pinned to the bed, I’ll never forget it - it was very traumatic. 

'I believe this is happening because death has always followed me, but I have strong suspicions the spirit could be my brother, who died when I was younger.

'We had a very troubled relationship, perhaps that’s why he’s come back to haunt me.' 

Ms Ayres said she began trying to capture the ghost's movements on film with her camera phone after people began doubting her story.

However she now believes she has angered the spirit after the spooky happenings have become more common.

She added: 'The paranormal activity first started in 2009 when I began to hear bangs at night, and then scratches appeared on the wall.

'Since these first encounters I've had nothing but rampant paranormal activity in every house I've lived in, I'm just at the end of my tether.

'I have even woke up with bruises some mornings, despite not being in contact with anyone. 

'It's hard to get the footage as sometimes the paranormal activity is too quick to film, but I think I've done well to catch what I have with a basic camera phone.

Ms Ayres said she began recording the incidents (which included a levitating spoon) to convince people of her story, but now fears she may have angered the spirit

The videos have sparked a furious debate on social media, with a swathe of paranormal investigators offering to conduct a thorough paranormal investigation into the disturbances.

According to Sefton Paranormal Investigators, if the video footage is genuine, this type of paranormal phenomenon would be classified as a poltergeist - a supernatural being often blamed for physical disturbances.

GETTING RID OF EVIL SPIRITS

Evil spirits control through fear. To get rid of them, replace fear with love, for perfect love cast out all fear. Without fear, the controlling ghost is unable to grasp the mind of another. It’s difficult I know but NO spirit can possess or control another soul, its the fear you generate that gives them the ammunition and power to create havoc. All they can do at worst if frighten and cause trouble but they cannot harm you.

Salt is very prevalent in folk remedies. It is thought to have the same purifying and cleansing properties as water. Just like water, some people prefer to have it blessed before they use it. Once blessed, or even not, make a line of the salt at the threshold of your door and windows and the corners of the room. The salt on the floor or ledge of these entryways will keep any spirit from entering your room. If you perform this act at entries of the entire house, the whole residence is assumed to be protected from entering spirits—whether they are vindictive or neutral.

The idea of using blessed water, whether by a Catholic priest or merely the head of a Wiccan cover, is a very old belief. Water is thought to be one of the neutral elements which can act as a transitory plane or a barrier. Its ability to cleanse and wash off anything that sullies the body in addition to its necessity for all living creatures makes most cultures believe in the sacredness of water in general. If you add the consecrated quality that is innate to water to a divine blessing of sorts, no matter what religion you prefer, you will create a naturally powerful element which will protect you against all types of evil spirits. Once you have your water blessed by the religious official of your choice, merely wet your fingers with the water then spread it across the top part of all the thresholds of the haunted room—doorways and windows. The barrier created by the blessed water should keep out the evil spirits at each of the room’s entryways.

Smudging is another good way to cleanse a room or property. Before you begin smudging to help attract positive energy around you need to de-clutter and clear out and tidy up. Any dead or dying houseplants/flowers have got to go. Empty bins and get rid of belongings that no longer serve you well, if you haven't worn it or used it for a year chances are you wont ever, so recycle it. Do the laundry, and tidy and clean your home, you can now smudge your surroundings. The traditional method is with sage and sweet grass and an abalone shell and with a feather. You light the sage and sweet grass bundle blow on it till smouldering and carry it in the abalone shell, this will induce smoke. The feather is used to waft the smoke to the areas you wish to smoke, remember you are dealing with a naked flame so be sensible and don't use it near combustible materials or gas sources etc. You can use incense Frankincense is ideal or a bell or even clap your hands if you have nothing available to hand. What is important is the intent. You are smudging to remove negative energy and attract positive energy in its place.

With rooms, homes, after you have de cluttered and cleaned, in each corner of each room, either waft the smoke, ring the bell or clap and with your mind focused and with intent ask that the negative energy is changed into positive energy. The reason I say changed if you simply ask for the negative energy to be removed, you are moving it out into the atmosphere and sending it to someone else.

You may find you have a bit of interference from lower elementals
The universe has its own vibration, Earth having the lowest in spiritual terms. After Earth comes the Astral realm, it is on this realm that we travel when we dream, its not unusual to see friends etc, in dream state, after all they will be traveling this realm too at night lol. It is on this realm where lower Elementals reside, i.e. wood nymphs, nature spirits, elves and fairies amongst others, and as often as in the case spirit who are trapped unable to move on also reside in this vibration. this is the same vibration used in psychic work. Five were the virtues of the medieval knight - generosity, courtesy, chastity, chivalry and piety as symbolised in the pentagram device of Sir Gawain. The Wiccan Kiss is Fivefold - feet, knees, womb, breasts, lips - Blessed be.

The number 5 is prime. The simplest star - the pentagram - requires five lines to draw and it is unicursal; it is a continuous loop.

Protection against evil
The pentagram has long been believed to be a potent protection against evil, a symbol of conflict that shields the wearer and the home. The pentagram has five spiked wards and a womb shaped defensive, protective pentagon at the centre.

Five elements
Here are five elements, four of matter (earth, air, fire and water) and THE quintessential - spirit. These may be arrayed around the pentagrams points. The word quintessential derives from this fifth element - the spirit. Tracing a path around the pentagram, the elements are placed in order of density - spirit (or aether). fire, air, water, earth. Earth and fire are basal, fixed; air and water are free, flowing.

The single point upwards signifies the spirit ruling matter (mind ruling limbs); is a symbol of rightness. With two points up and one (spirit) downwards, subservient, the emphasis is on the carnal nature of Man.

The Pentagram As A Christian Symbol
Up until medieval times, the five points of the pentagram represented the five wounds of Christ on the Cross. It was a symbol of Christ the Saviour. This is in stark contrast to today where the pentagram is criticized by modern Fundamentalist Christians, as being a symbol of evil.
