I am a great believer in Karma, but just what is it? Karma comes from the Sanskrit and ancient Indian Language with the underlying principal that every deed in our lives will affect our future life. For example, if we treat others badly during our lifetime we will have negative experiences later on in that lifetime or in future lifetimes. Likewise, if we treat others well we will be rewarded by positive experiences.

A BEAUTY PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION "BALANCE SYNAKE VENOM EYE CREAM"

A beauty blog today and I can't rate this highly enough and I don't recommend anything on this site unless I've tried it myself.

In winter I often suffer from eczema around my eyes due to cold winds and drying central heating. The skin around the eyes is very thin and fragile and easily damaged and because of this steroid cream cannot be used in this area. Other creams suitable for eczema are too heavy and would cause puffiness. I had forgotten I'd bought this some months ago and was looking for something to soothe the skin around my eyes and if you suffer from eczema you will know the skin takes on a thickened scaly appearance. Well I tried this I noticed an immediate improvement, the puffiness started to disappear, two days later my skin was no longer dry and scaly and the overall colour around my eyes improved immensely. It can even be patted around the eyes over make up, it's marvellous.

I obtained mine on Amazon but I'm sure you will be able to obtain it elsewhere as well, but here is the link none the less. CLICK HERE

BEAUTY REVIEW BALANCE PRODUCTS

Today I am writing about Balance Products. Now having a medical background as well as being a beauty therapy lecturer I am giving the thumbs up to these three products below. As I have written many times on this site, nothing can permeate the dermis unless its UV light, aromatherapy essential oils or medications, you will know cosmetics cannot penetrate down into the dermis and can only affect the epidermis. So don't expect huge miracles and instant wrinkle remove effects but it certainly softens and hydrates the skin and a hydrated skin has fewer lines than a dry skin. These Synake products are not Botox so don't expect the same effects but if you are looking for a product to improve your skin's texture and hydration levels this is great and they leave the skin radiant. Unlike many skin creams they are not expensive and I don't see the point in wasting money on expensive creams that don't live up to their claims. I have been using them daily for the last couple of weeks and very pleased with them the only other product I use on my skin is Smashbox BB cream a light tinted moisturiser to even out my skin's tone.

If you want to lessen the effects of ageing these products make a good start, however you still have to avoid UV light, smoking and drink plenty of water and have a good balanced diet. The solution to a young looking skin is prevention

MORE HYPE ABOUT SO CALLED MIRACLE SKIN CREAMS?

Honestly where do jouralists get these stories from. As I have said countless times, so many times now I've lost count, if a substance is able to penetrate the epidermis it cannot be called a cosmetic it MUST be licensed as a medication. Only medications, such as nicotene, HRT etc can penetrate the skin, UV light and essential oils. In my last article I posted on here essential oils must be used with caution and safety ahered to as they are not innoculous substances. For a substance to affect collagen it has to be able to pass through the epidermis into the dermis where you will find collagen. If this substance does have an effect it would no longer be labeled as a cosmetic and would only be available on prescription. Somehow I doubt it can as the molecules would have to be extremely tiny. The best antiageing solution for your skin is, don't smoke, keep out of the sun, avoid stress, drink plenty of water, eat a good balanced diet and avoid alcohol and extreme changes in weight

Article below is from the Daily Mail.

Revealed: The 'miracle' ingredient in wrinkle cream that DOUBLES the production of skin-plumping collagen

  • A chemical called MatrixylT used in some anti-wrinkle creams may double the amount of collagen in skin
  • Collagen is needed to keep skin elastic and give it a plump, youthful feel - but production declines with age
  • Scientists say MatrixylT can help the skin produce more

It is a multi-million pound industry that continues to grow with our quest for eternally youthful looks.

But a nagging question always remains over whether anti-wrinkle creams make any difference at all.

Now researchers at the University of Reading say a chemical used in some of these creams really can work - by doubling the amount of collagen produced by the skin.

Collagen is a protein that gives skin its strength and elasticity. With the amount we make falling as we age, the protein has become a key ingredient of many creams that claim to rejuvenate the skin and smooth away wrinkles.

Many anti-ageing products claim to stimulate the production of it to make skin look younger, plumper and firmer. Others contain collagen in the cream itself.

But with competition in the skincare market so fierce, there is scant published research on the effectiveness of various ingredients - particularly the 'miracle' ones that claim to turn back time.

Previous research has also indicated that expensive collagen-containing creams are a waste of money.

Collagen (pictured) is a protein that gives skin its strength and elasticity

Two years ago, scientists at the University of Bath said the collagen molecules in the enticing-sounding lotions and potions are so large that very few make it through the skin.

As a result, they sit on the surface of the face until they are rubbed off or washed away.

In the new research, the Reading researchers decided to test the effectiveness of a particular product on collagen - a peptide called MatrixylT.

This is said to encourage the skin to produce more collagen.

The researchers found that provided the concentrations are high enough, the product can almost double the amount of collagen that the cells in the body produce.

Ian Hamley, a chemistry professor at the university, said the study showed that products containing Matrixyl would have skin-care benefits.

He said: 'Studies like this are very important for the consumer as cosmetic companies rarely publish their work so rivals can't copy their products.'

MatrixylT was tested on skin cells in a lab, but products known to contain the chemical include some L'Oreal and Skindoctor creams.

Professor Hamley added that as well as skincare products, collagen-based materials could be used to treat wounds and enhance stem cell research.

'Collagen-based materials have immense potential in tissue engineering,' he added.

The research was independently funded by the University and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and published in the journal Molecular Pharmaceutics.

DOES IT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?

Now a month ago I blogged about this product (22nd September 2012)
Anew PRO Line Corrector Treatment with A-F33.

I did say I would let you know how I got on with it, well 4 weeks later I have noted a dramatic improvement on the skin on my neck. After all I am 55 and it was getting a bit crepe like well I have to say not any longer, it's firmer and smoother. As for my face, I can't say I've noticed any difference, but I will keep on using it and report back. Remember though all this product can achieve is an improvement in the Epidermis as its not a medication it CANNOT be absorbed into the Dermis. Since wrinkles begin in the Dermis, it is NOT going to effect an improvement in established wrinkles, the best is can do is plump up the epidermis and stimulate cell turnover in the epidermis, the active ingredient 'Retinol' will help remove dead skin cells revealing fresher cells underneath.

I will keep you posted but if you have a dry crepe-like neck, it sure will improve that, as for wrinkles, I'm afraid not.

PREVIOUS BLOG 22ND SEPTEMBER 2012 (4 WEEKS AGO)

The jury is still out on this one as this is the first day I've tried it so I will follow up my findings on this product but its light and disappeared into my skin and doesn't have a greasy feel. I'm lucky to  have been blessed by good genes as I don't have many lines for my age and they are not deep, it helps having an oily skin, though when I was younger I cursed it however it's paying benefits now.

It's claims:

Gel lotion formulation with patented+ A-F33 for Avon's ultimate in fighting fine and deep wrinkles. 30ml. Our fastest wrinkle fighter EVER +U.S. patent All cosmetic product results are achieved with continued use.

I'll let you know if it's claims stand up, it's active ingredient appears to be Retinol.

HALLELUJAH AT LAST WE HAVE THE EVIDENCE AGAINST THE HYPE

Even the most expensive cosmetic creams can't live up to claims that they repair skin from within, study finds

Cosmetic skin creams cannot ‘penetrate’ the skin as claimed by many manufacturers, a study found today.
Many pharmaceutical brands claim that nanoparticles in their products give their creams a ‘deep penetrating action’.
But scientists at the University of Bath found that such claims are 'patently' untrue and that even the tiniest of nanoparticles do not penetrate the skin’s surface.
Beauty creams that claim to penetrate the skin have been hailed as miracle workers for women of a certain age
Beauty creams that claim to penetrate the skin have been hailed as miracle workers for women of a certain age
Their work suggests that creams are simply deposited into creases in the skin and do not carry nutrients deep under the surface.
Professor Richard Guy, a professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences who led the research, said: 'Previous studies have reached conflicting conclusions over whether nanoparticles can penetrate the skin or not.
'Using confocal microscopy has allowed us to unambiguously visualise and objectively assess what happens to nanoparticles on an uneven skin surface.
'Whereas earlier work has suggested that nanoparticles appear to penetrate the skin, our results indicate that they may in fact have simply been deposited into a deep crease within the skin sample.
'The skin’s role is to act as a barrier to potentially dangerous chemicals and to reduce water loss from the body. Our study shows that it is doing a good job of this.
'So, while an unsuspecting consumer may draw the conclusion that nanoparticles in their skin creams, are ‘carrying’ an active ingredient deep into the skin, our research shows this is patently not the case.'
The research, published in the Journal of Controlled Release, studied particles less than one hundredth of the thickness of a human hair which are used in sunscreens and some cosmetic and pharmaceutical creams.
The scientists used a technique called laser scanning confocal microscopy to examine whether fluorescently-tagged polystyrene beads, ranging in size from 20 to 200 nanometers, were absorbed into the skin.
They found that even when the skin sample had been partially compromised by stripping away layers, the nanoparticles still did not penetrate the skin’s outer layer, known as the stratum corneum.
Professor Guy added: 'We did the study very carefully but not once we were able to determine that that were able to cross the outside layer of the skin which is out protective layer.
'There is no magic associated with particles being able to wriggle across the skin, they are just too big to do that,
'We actually have lots of nanoparticles inside us that don’t get out.'
He said that the research did however help to prove that potentially harmful ingredients, such as those used in sunscreens, can not be absorbed into the body, alleviating fears.
He also suggested that it may be possible to design a new type of nanoparticle-based drug that can be applied to the skin to give a controlled release of a drug over a long period of time.

A BEAUTY BLOG 'AVON PRODUCTS' FOUNDATION AND ANEW PRO LINE CORRECTOR

A beauty blog this time, I'm always looking for new products to try especially if they are inexpensive as I don't believe you have to pay a lot for products. At the moment I'm trying a couple of Avon products and before you knock this company, they have been around a long time and their cosmetics have come a long way. You don't have to find an Avon representative either as you can buy directly online.

The first product I'm trying is this one.

Avon Ideal Flawless Matte Mousse Foundation

I'm using the shade "nude" this is a good colour match for me in fact it was difficult to tell where I had applied it. It's a very light foundation and gives light to medium coverage and has a matt finish, It's also very easy to apply and doesn't feel sticky or just sit there as some mouse foundations I've tried in the past and I'm impressed by it. It's very reasonably priced even at it's full price as it's on offer just now at half price.

The other product I'm using is this one

Anew PRO Line Corrector Treatment with A-F33

The jury is still out on this one as this is the first day I've tried it so I will follow up my findings on this product but its light and disappeared into my skin and doesn't have a greasy feel. CHEMICALS IN COSMETICS LINKED TO OBESITY?

Story below is from the Daily Mail.

I honestly don't know where they get these stories
FACT: Cosmetics, ie. make-up, fake tan CANNOT pass through the skin it's impossible if this was the case they would no longer be licensed as cosmetics but would have to be licensed as medication.
FACT: Only medications, e.g. topical steroids, patch delivered such as HRT etc. and essential oils can permeate the skin.
FACT: Obesity is caused by taking in too much fuel i.e. food and not expending it as energy i.e. exercise
X = Food Y = Exercise Z = Obesity N = Normal Healthy weight
X + Y = N
X - Y = Z
It's as simple as that.

CHEMICALS IN COSMETICS LINKED TO OBESITY I DON'T THINK SO

Chemical in fake tan and make-up is linked to obesity and diabetes

  • Phthalates are widely used in a range of cosmetics
  • Study finds link to weight gain and insulin resistance

A study found that a chemical commonly used in cosmetics can increase the risk of obesity
A study found that a chemical commonly used in cosmetics can increase the risk of obesity
A chemical used in make-up and self tanning lotions has been linked to obesity.
Scientists found that those who were exposed to phthalates, colourless man-made substances included in a variety of common consumer products, were more prone to weight gain.
And subjects with even 'modest' levels of the substance in their bloodstream were twice as likely to develop diabetes.
One billion tons of phthalates are produced worldwide each year and they have been widely used as gelling agents in cosmetics, cleaning products and to make plastic bottles for more than half a century.
But now mounting evidence suggests they could have a negative health impact, promptingthe body to store more belly fat and become resistant to insulin as they disrupt the hormone balance.
Lead researcher Monica Lind, associate professor of environmental medicine at Uppsala University in Sweden, said: 'Those pollutants containing phthalates are making people obese and now we find they could get diabetes. These products need to be tested.
'Many are used in body products, like face creams, fake tan, make up and perfumes. Not only does the packaging contain them, but they are absorbed into the body and bloodstream through the skin.
'In perfume, we inhale the phthalates that are used to delay the scent and increase the lifetime of the perfume.'
Data from 1,000 people aged over 70 was looked at during the study and in total 119 had diabetes while 88 of them had a history of the condition.
After taking into account factors that are known to cause type 2 diabetes, including obesity, smoking and high cholesterol, they found people with higher levels of phthalates in their blood were more likely to develop insulin resistance.
It is thought that in men phthalates have an anti-testosterone capacity linked to weigh gain, while in women they disrupt the hormone balance similar to those that might occur during the menopause or at puberty.
Phthalates crept into widespread use over the last several decades because of their beneficial chemical properties (picture shows the general chemical structure)
Phthalates crept into widespread use over the last several decades because of their beneficial chemical properties (picture shows the general chemical structure)
It is unclear which products contain the chemicals, as in many countries don't require them to be listed as ingredients, but it is known that perfumes and hair products, such as hairspray and mousse, are the worst offenders.
A spokesperson from Campaign for Safe Cosmetics said: 'Phthalates are found in about 70 per cent of fragrance containing personal care products (that's everything from perfume and cologne to fragrance-containing shampoos and deodorants).
'They are not listed on labels because fragrance is considered a trade secret so companies don't have to disclose what's in it.'
Dr Paula Baillie-Hamilton, author of Stop the 21st Century Killing You and a researcher on human metabolism who has studied the connection between chemicals and obesity at the University of Stirling, is convinced that the abundance of chemical calories in our lives is the reason why so many people are getting fatter despite dieting and exercising more.
‘It’s a theory that was poo-pooed a decade ago but which has become a new field of medicine in itself,’ says Dr Baillie-Hamilton.

WHAT ARE PHTHALATES AND WHAT COSMETICS CAN YOU FIND IT IN?

  • They are a synthetic chemicals which disrupt hormones in the body
  • They have been shown to damage the liver, kidneys, lungs and reproductive systems in animal studies, and increase the risk of obesity
  • They can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled
  • Cosmetic manufacturers use phthalates because they cling to the skin and nails to give perfumes, hair gels and nail polishes more staying power
  • The Not Too Pretty report in 2002  was released by the non-profit environmental body The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics consumer to raise awareness about the dangers of phthalates
  • It is unclear which products contain phthalates because they are not labelled on packaging but 70 per cent of fragrance cosmetics such as soaps and perfumes contain high levels
  • Many countries don't require the chemicals to be listed under ingredients
In 2003 the European Union passed legislation banning some phthalates in cosmetics and has kept three phthalates out of toys since 1999.
Johanna Congleton, a senior scientist  from the Environmental Working Group, a U.S. environmental organisation, said the study gives further reason for the cosmetics industry to ban the use of phthalates completely.
She said; 'The implications of this study enforce the notion that environmental chemicals can act as 'obesogens' and alter biological functions involved in fat metabolism, which can influence body weight.
'Avoiding exposure is a good precautionary measure, and consumer product manufacturers should phase out the use of these compounds.'
However Dr Iain Frame, Director of Research at Diabetes UK raised concerns over the recent study and the sample selected.
He said: 'This paper attempts to link the presence of phthalates in the bloodstream and the presence of Type 2 diabetes in an elderly population.
'It is a difficult area to research and this study was based on a relatively small number of white adults over 70 years old.
'It shows an association between some metabolites, which are breakdown products, and the presence of Type 2 diabetes, but does not show that their presence causes Type 2 diabetes.
'We would be concerned if the reporting of this study diluted the very simple and evidence-based message that limiting the amount of calories in your diet and being regularly physically active is the best way of maintaining a healthy weight and so reduce your risk of Type 2 diabetes.'
Following the publication of the findings in the journal Diabetes Care, Prof Lind added:'Although our results need to be confirmed in more studies, they do support the hypothesis that certain environmental chemicals can contribute to the development of diabetes.
'Consumers should ask for labelling. As it is now It's impossible know which products contain the chemical. We should also ask for better regulation.
'There's lots of also lots of other health problems (asthma, allergy, obesity, reproduction problem etc) which has been shown to be linked to the phthalates.
'We now know enough to regulate these chemicals. In general all chemicals should be tested for safety before they go on the market not afterwards.'

BEAUTY ON A BUDGET (A review on E.L.F.)

For those of you who know me, you will know apart from being a Psychic Medium and writing books, I used to be a college lecturer in Beauty Therapy and Holistic therapies, I trained therapists who came from all over the world and many of them went on to open spa's internationally. Now my personal preference is MAC but it can be expensive if you want to experiment or as a student who wants to obtain a large range. I have started using E.L.F. Cosmetics and I love their philosophy "Beauty comes from feeling and looking your best. an inner confidence that translates to the outer world as attractiveness." It's very much as my own and my reason and philosophy for beginning this site here. Of course I take and even more holistic route and going further than cosmetics, however cosmetics make a woman feel good and give her confidence, so it's with pleasure to discover the range of their products. Their brushes are excellent value and professional quality and they have a wide range.

Their range of colour cosmetics and palates are brilliant. OK you wont get the fancy packaging but the quality of the products are excellent, finely milled unlike some other cheaper brands and very blendable and long lasting. Lipsticks are £1.50 and their waterproof pen eyeliner you won't be able to fault it and I use their products myself, so I've tried and tested them. I'll still periodically use MAC as I love the luxury of it and the packaging but with the way the economy is going we are going to see and hear a lot more from E.L.F.

PSYCHIC QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

PSYCHIC QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE TO FORECAST THE FUTURE AND OTHER QUESTIONS?

I am often asked various questions pertaining to the spirit world and various aspects of the psychic, here are some of them: I will in time feature more questions and answers as this webpage evolves

Q. Is a psychic or medium a fortune teller?
A. It may surprise you to know psychics and mediums are not fortune tellers
Q. Is it possible to forecast the future?
A.Well not 100% and this is because of free will.
Q. What is free will?
A. Free will is YOUR right to decide what you want to do about a situation, it is a choice
Q. How does free will affect a situation?
A. Well before we incarnate as Spirit in a human body, we decide on what experiences and challenges that will benefit our spiritual growth. However we are given the choice (free will) as to whether we go through with the experience or challenge. In effect we are allowed to change or mind.
Q. So are you saying we all know what lies before us?
A. Well in a way we all do. Remember we are 'Spirit' in a human body and your spirit does retain a memory but it is deep in our subconscious. This memory is retained deeply for a reason to help us fulfill our experiences and challenges we ourselves chose. However it is also at this deep level so we are not so aware. If you knew what lay before you would you go through with it? Probably not but we still retain this memory deeply and this reflects in our Aura.
Q. So what is the Aura?
A.The aura is The Aura is an electromagnetic field that surrounds living bodies, this includes people, animals, plants and crystals and is composed of several layers that are constantly moving. The Aura links us to whats known as Universal energy i.e. that is all the knowledge in the Universe past, present and future. It is on this aura that psychics are able to tap into and access your past, whats going on in the present and the possible future and I say possible specifically if your goal or desire is dependent on other people, for remember every person involved in a situation has free will.
