OUIJA BOARDS DO NOT TOUCH THEM

The article below mine is from the Daily Mail.  I am often asked about Ouija boards, my advice is and I cannot stress this strongly enough DO NOT go anywhere near them.

Good and evil, light and dark co-exists in the Universe as everything is balanced and if you have read previous articles on this site I have explained this many times but for those who have not, the Universe operates a series of laws and one of the main ones to consider is 'THE LAW OF ATTRACTION' in other words like attracts like, therefore positivity will attract positivity and negativity will attract negativity. The is why positive thought is very important but it also goes with how you live your life, if you walk in the light and strive to be a good kind person, you will attract all that is good towards you, however if you are an evil person you will attract this back to you. This does not mean however there is no hope for you if you have done wrong in the past, far from it, if you genuinely are sorry and aim to make amends you will attract the good to you. You may have heard the old saying, "What goes around comes around", will this is precisely the law of attraction in operation.

When you are beginning to develop psychically or are indeed curious, you begin to open up and use your third eye chakra, when you do so certain malevolent spirits and entities are very aware you are doing this, you give off a signal. Lower energies and spirits who haven't moved on either because they have committed wrong doing or chose to stay on the lower spiritual realms to cause trouble will be attracted to you. If you are pure in thought and a very positive person, you are less likely to attract these, but if shall we say, you're not a very nice person you are much more likely to attract those. Lower entities, come in all shapes and sizes often in the shape of flying creatures and can be very frightening. Now these entities cannot harm you in anyway, they cannot control you, but your negativity and fear feeds them and they will play on this. All you need do is basically tell them with conviction, to 'F*** off' and they will go, but you must override your fear and do it with a strong mind. For everything in the spirit world is controlled and operates on thought.

When you dabble in Ouija boards you will attract these lower entities and malevolent spirits for they think oh I can have a bit of fun here and cause fear and anguish, something they like doing. The other thing they do is to masquerade as the spirit of a loved one to give false messages. One thing spirit of your loved ones DON'T DO is to tell you to do something, as they know we have to live our lives through free will. So if you get a message from someone you know, a deceased love one in spirit telling you to do something, you can guarantee, they are not who they say they care and they are from the dark side.

If you are really interested in communicating with loved ones in spirit go and see and experienced Medium and DO NOT dabble in Ouija boards for all you will do is conjure up the dark and malevolent side

With Halloween fast approaching, people love to hear spooky stories that send shivers down their spines.

And just in time, Reddit users have taken to the forum to share their creepiest tales of using a Ouija board, which people use to attempt to contact the dead.

There have been several threads asking users to share their strangest experiences when using the device, which has a planchett that spells out words based on questions that users ask.

With Halloween fast approaching, people love reading scary stories the use of Ouija boards always manages to conjure up plenty of those. Users have taken to Reddit to share their spookiest stories

The first one asked: 'Anyone have any personal ouija board experiences?' and the second said 'Paranormal fans, who has used an Ouija board? What was your experience(s)?'

Together, they have more than 200 comments from people and the stories are enough to make you never want to try it.

From predicting deaths to moving objects, it seems people have been put off using the Ouija board after their first time. 

One Reddit user took to the forum to tell a story they had 'always wanted to tell, but never had the opportunity' to.

The story is about their father who had been playing with an Ouija board with his friends when they were told one of the friend's fathers would die in the near future.

The next week, his father was struck down by a car and killed immediately. 

One group of friends were told by the board that they were being watched through the window and then the power went out

Another said they used an Ouija board when they were 12 or 13 years old and were at a friend's house.

They were messing around when they got the message: 'I can see you through your window' and then 'I can see through your eyes.'

It later said 'I'm under the car' and after going outside to peer under the vehicle, they saw a 'huge black stray cat which was hissing.'

They ran inside and at that moment all of the power went out. They stayed awake until dawn and never played with the board again. 

One Redditor explained that the planchette (pictured above) flew off the board as they were using it

Another user said not to persist when questioning an Ouija board as it lead to a glass being smashed in their hands

One user named Mathari said that some unexplained things went on in their house so they decided to use an Ouija board to try and figure out what they were dealing with.

'Bad idea', they said, 'What we didn't realise is that Ouija boards open the door for anything to come through and speak.'

The planchette then flew off the board and things got worse in the house, eventually leading to them moving out.

Another said the Ouija board spelled out the name 'Gemma Jane'. Their friend had been adopted and didn't know her biological family but found out later that her birth mother had in fact been named Gemma Jane Parham.

Their second story was about when their great aunt asked if she would get married to her boyfriend.The board said no and after being asked if they would break up, the board again said no.

When asked if one of them would die, it said yes. A week later the man died in a woodchipper accident.

One Redditor was 10 years old when their mother and her friends were using the 'Psychic circle' - which is similar to an Ouija board.

They were persistently asking the board the same question over and over again.

After a while, the 10-year-old went into the kitchen to pour themselves a drink. As they walked back to where their mother and friends were sitting, the entire glass shattered in their hands.

To this day, 'it still makes me feel uncomfortable', she added.

When user lenoresden was 14 or 15, she and her friend used an Ouija board one night.

After communicating with somebody, the next thing they knew it was 7am: 'It was like we blinked and the sun came up.'

They lost 10 hours of their lives and neither of them remember anything about it. 

After they posted their story to Reddit, they said they called their friend to ask if they remembered that night: 'She told me yes, and she didn't want to talk about it. EVER. Then she quickly told me she had to go and hung up.'

Two friends think they lost 10 hours of their life after using an Oujia board and said neither of them remember what went on during the night

Another two friends got freaked out when they asked if anyone was in the room with them and the board spelled out the name 'Ruth' - both of them had family members called Ruth who had died that year

One user said that she and a friend used an Ouija board in 6th grade. They asked if anyone was in the room with them and the planchette spelled out the name 'Ruth', which was her grandma's name and their friend's great-aunt's name. They had both died that year.

Describing the incident, they said: 'We threw the board back in the box and were totally freaked out.

'I brought it home and put it in my closet, but every time I looked at the box it gave me this horrible, creepy feeling, so I ended up throwing it in the dumpster a couple of years later.'

SPIRITUALISM AND THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS

In case you are not aware I am a Spiritualist and obviously I adhere to the 7 principals of my religion. I mention it here not because I wish to try and convert you to my beliefs, far from it, but it is the thread that runs through my website here.



Many Christian sects associate mediums as working with evil spirits or the devil, this is so untrue and couldn't be further from the truth, so this is really to put the record straight. We work in the light and not with the dark side.

Unlike most other major religions, Spiritualism does not tie its adherents to a creed or dogma. Rather, the philosophy of Spiritualism is founded upon seven basic principles which were developed and derived through the Mediumship of one of Spiritualism’s greatest pioneers - Emma Hardinge Britten,

Emma Hardinge Britten
(1823-1899)

Emma Hardinge Britten is, perhaps, the most renowned and most respected advocate and proponent in the early Modern Spiritualist Movement.

She was the daughter of Captain Floyd Hardinge, whom writers call a seafaring man. Early in her life, she had shown gifts as a musician, singer, and speaker. In fact, at age 11 she was earning her living as a music teacher.

Under contract with a theatrical company, she went to America in 1856 where, through the mediumship of Miss Ada Hoyt (Mrs. Coan), she became converted to the Spiritualist philosophy. There, she began developing her own abilities as a medium and sat publicly for the Society for the Diffusion of Spiritual Knowledge of New York (what a wonderful name).

As a young medium, she furnished one of the best attested cases of early Spirit return. A member of the crew of the mail steamer, Pacific, which had sunk in the ocean, controlled young Emma and, in trance, disclosed the facts of the tragedy. Because of the nature of the details given through her mediumship, Emma Hardinge was threatened with prosecution by the owners of the boat when the story was made public, but all the details were found to be true and accurate.

Her mediumistic gifts embraced automatic and inspirational writing, psychometry, healing, prophecy, and inspirational speaking. She was best known for her inspirational addresses, which were very eloquent, inspiring, and informative. They were given completely extempore, and the subject was generally chosen in the auditorium by a committee from the audience.

Most historians agree that, as a propagandist for Spiritualism, she was unequaled in her zeal, commitment, and enthusiasm. For years she traveled all over the United States, Canada, England, Australia, and New Zealand, expounding the truths of Spiritualism and related areas of thought.

Emma Hardinge Britten founded and edited for five years the Two Worlds of Manchester. She was also among the founders of the Theosophical Society in New York, in 1875. However, she soon severed her connections with Madame Blavatsky.

Although she was not alive to see this happen, her dream of establishing a proper and formal "school of prophets" (training school for mediums) was realized in 1900, with the founding of the Britten Memorial Institute and Library, in Manchester, England.

Emma Hardinge Britten's writings include: Modern American Spiritualism, New York, 1870; Nineteenth Century Miracles, New York, 1884; Faith, Fact and Fraud of Religious History, Manchester, 1896; Extemporaneous Addresses, London, 1866. She was editor of the American periodical, The Western Star, 1872, and the British The Unseen Universe, 1992-1893. inspired in 1871 by the communicating spirit of Robert Owen (the founder, when alive in the physical body, of the Co-operative movement).

These Seven Principles, which act as guidelines for the development of a personal philosophy of how to live one’s life, are stated as follows:-

1.THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD

Each of us has his or her idea of God. To some, He is an austere personality instilling fear in his believers and meting out wrathful judgement to wrong doers, seated on a throne in heaven. To others he is a benign Father, caring for his vast family of every colour and creed and personified in everything that is beautiful around us. The latter is the broad Spiritualist viewpoint as envisaging the one supreme power.


We regard Him as the author of a divine plan, the natural law through which the universe which He created is governed and based on love, not fear.

He is the controlling force of all and “the Greatest Central Source of all life and love” as Andrew Jackson Davis, another of our pioneers so forcefully proclaimed. When we transgress these laws we are betraying a trust for which we shall have to pay, either here, on in the life hereafter. Our relationship with God is therefore determined by our obedience to these laws.


2.THE BROTHERHOOD OF MAN
If we accept the Fatherhood of God then it naturally follows that we are his children, brothers and sisters in one family of all race and colour. This confers upon us a dual responsibility – to our Father and to each other, which we can sum up in one word – SERVICE. The inequalities of modern society, the rich and the poor, the weak and the strong, the wise and the ignorant, provide an incentive for love and service. In our daily lives we meet those who need material help, to whom a kind word or small act may work wonders.


If we would extend this call to service beyond the confines of our family, our town, our country, out into the wide world, pain and suffering, tumult and wars would cease and we would bring into being “that peace which passes all understanding”.

It goes further than that. The real meaning of our existence is not only our obligation to our fellow men. Man being himself a spirit here on earth, is immortal and the brotherhood of man is extended into the spirit spheres. Spiritualism therefore gives a new and higher meaning to our mutual interdependence and to Brotherhood.


3.COMMUNION OF SPIRITS AND THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS (This is the key Principle to our Religion)

This is the key around which our whole philosophy turns. Orthodoxy denies the reality of communion with departed spirits, whereas for the past one hundred and twenty years we have proved conclusively that man not only survives physical death but is able, through mediums, to commune with those left behind. Not only that, they spend quite a lot of their time giving us help and guidance in various ways with our earthly problems.


There are certain persons among us who are called mediums who are so highly sensitive to ‘spirit vibrations’ that they are able to establish contact with those who have passed over and wish to communicate with us. Each one of us has a spirit guide or helper – a ‘guardian angel’ if you like, who uses the medium as an instrument through whom he can talk.
We are thus able to learn how our loved ones are faring in their new environment and in their new way of life. This proof of survival is of great help to those who are bereaved.


4.CONTINUOUS EXISTENCE OF THE HUMAN SOUL

There is a corollary of the previous principle and serves to accentuate how much our Spiritualist philosophy is so diametrically opposed to the materialist conception of life.


All the great religions of the world subscribe to some form of life after death in some nebulous heavenly existence, but because they have failed to prove it to the satisfaction of modern realists, they have lost their hold on the people.

Spiritualism on the other hand does prove this fact in no uncertain manner and in so doing has profoundly revolutionised our lives in that our behaviour is not encompassed within the narrow limits of our earthly lives, but extends into eternity. Our mode of living here will determine our spiritual status in the life to come.

5.PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

This is the major doctrinal difference between Spiritualism and orthodox religions. The basis of the Christian religion rests on the belief that Jesus died on a cross to save us from our sins. This we most strongly repudiate. Jesus was put to death by crucifixion for political reasons. This was the then normal method of execution for most offences – including robbery. The Jewish priests were afraid He would usurp their power through his teaching and healing and the Romans that he might raise a rebellion against them – “He stireth up the people”


Spiritualism asserts that no one can save us from our wrong doing but ourselves. Man, through his conscience knows the difference between right and wrong and is given free will to choose which road he will take. No one, be he religious or an atheist can escape the consequences of his own mistakes. God does not sit in judgement over us, we have to be our own judges.

What the church calls sin, we regard as the violation of the divine natural laws made by God, which Paul interpreted when he wrote “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” Man alone has to atone for his sins and not shirk his responsibilities.


6.COMPENSATION AND RETRIBUTION HEREAFTER FOR ALL GOOD AND EVIL DEEDS DONE ON EARTH


This follows on what has been said above. The orthodox church would have us believe that on this awful “day of judgement” God will sit on his throne and cast each one of us into heaven or hell. Heaven and hell are states of mind of our own creation and not celestial localities. Our code of life on this earth will determine our spiritual status in the world of spirit.

It is equally wrong to think that because one attends church regularly, or performs evangelical or “other good works” one will automatically be given pride of place in the hereafter. It will be our everyday deeds and motive for them that will count and how well we have carried out the precept “Do unto others…” Neither is it true that after our passing we will become a saint. Death does not make us spiritually aware.

7.ETERNAL PROGRESS OPEN TO EVERY HUMAN SOUL

The idea of eternal progress may seem hard for us to understand in this world where everything has an ending, but in the world to come, where there are neither clocks nor calendars, time is immaterial. Spiritualism points to the certainty of eternal progress, but the rate of our own particular advancement will depend upon ones desire to do so, remembering that we shall have free will as we have here.


We shall by no means be idle in the spirit world, in fact, we shall be extremely busy pursuing those paths which will lead us toward perfection – and we shall have eternity in which to do it.

The transition from our earthly world to our new existence in the higher life does not alter our present make-up or character. We shall be just the same as we were before the passing, retaining our free will to fashion our new life with the sure knowledge that we shall be given the opportunity to make spiritual progress with no limit to time or the heights we can reach. Once again, we come face to face with our personal responsibility even on the other side.

These principles are the crux of our philosophy. They are inter-dependent and their influence has transformed man’s outlook on life.

As a final note, Spiritualism, through an intelligent and thorough investigation of its Seven Principles, reveals the understanding, the deepest significance of service to others and transforms life from selfishness to unselfishness, from individualism to social co-operation. Only on such a foundation can love and truth and all other spiritual values have any practical meaning or reality.

MY EXPERIENCES OF ANGELS

I myself have only once seen an angel and this was when I was recovering in hospital where I had been dangerously ill. At the time I was on the road to recovery and I woke in the night to see this vast being at the foot of my hospital bed. I wasn't in the least frightened but what I saw was incredible. It seemed to be neither male nor female and its skin, hair and wings were radiating gold and was dressed in red and gold robes. The wing span was massive and it stood from floor to ceiling. You can think of this what you will, but I did not imagine it and I knew then I was going to be ok and was being watched over.

On another occasion when my daughter was six years old, she was very ill with influenza and I was rightly very worried about her. So I asked her guardian angel to watch over her carefully and keep her safe. Three days later when my small daughter was over the worst, she came to me and said, "Mummy someone is watching me in my room", and described what could only be an angel. She wasn't frightened when I explained who it was. Satisfied she went on to recover and didn't mention the angel again. Later on my daughter would go on to talk about other experiences but those are other stories!

THE HIERARCHY OF ANGELS

Seraphim
The Seraphim are closest to divinity. They are concerned with keeping divinity constant and intact, and are considered the angels of pure love, light and fire. They insure that only positive energy reaches to divinity, and create positive energy through all the choirs of angels and into the physical realms.  When you wish to raise energy for humanitarian or planetary causes ask for their help and guidance.

Cherubim
The Cherubim are guardians of light and stars. They create and channel positive energy from divinity, and appear exquisite in form. They outshine all the other angels. When you are seeking divine protection, wisdom, and knowledge, seek assistance from the Cherubim.

Thrones
The Thrones are assigned to planets. They create, channel, and collect incoming and outgoing positive energies.  Their name comes from the idea that the power of divinity rests upon their shoulders. Justice and its dispensation are important to them and they will shine their light on injustices, and send healing energy to any victim.  Thrones take great interest in what humans are doing, though they normally channel energies through your guardian angel.  Look to the Thrones for assistance in smoothing relations with groups of people, nations, or individuals.

Dominions
Issues of leadership are under the control of Dominions.  Dominion angels work to insure that humans are happy and healthy under the leadership they have bestowed.  They are very concerned with cause and effect. If you wish to access divine wisdom, ask the mediators, the Dominions.  Dominions will help you create or improve existing projects.

Powers
Powers are the warrior angels who work through love instead of fear.  Call them when you are in trouble or need to identify another's hidden agenda. They will bring clarity to your assessment of a puzzling situation.  These angels will defend your home, property, children, or any group of people who call on them for protection and defense.

Virtues
The Virtues' primary job is to move massive quantities of spiritual energy to the earth plane and the collective human consciousness.  The Virtues are the spirits of movement, working and guiding the elemental energies that affect our planet.  These are the angels of nature (earth, air, fire, water, spirit, weather patterns, planetary upheavals).  Call the Virtues to your assistance when you are in trouble or working in a healing profession.

(The Angels listed above are most involved in larger issues that affect mankind. They rarely interact directly with humans.  The Angels listed below dedicate themselves to working with human beings, and are a constant presence in our lives, even if we are unaware.)
 
Principalities
The Principalities are the guardians of large groups, including such as continents, countries, cities, governments, religious organizations, and humanitarian organizations. They work toward global reform and to aid leaders in wise choices.  Human rights and economic reform are important issues to these Angels.

Archangels
The Archangels are the special forces of the angelic realms, who deal with all levels of humanity.  They also create and funnel energies both ways.

Angels
Angels are beings assigned to a particular person.  They are often known as Guardian Angels.  Angels deal with human and physical manifestation.  Not only do they channel energy from the Divine to us, but also from us to the Divine. Guardian Angels are assigned to us through all incarnations on Earth.  They are with us from birth to the transition of death.  They defend us when we are in trouble, help us adjust to a human existence, and assist in carrying out our divine plan.

It really does not matter if the characters are somewhat strange, the emotions felt are just the same. Many, too, explore the philosophy of life and are designed to uplift and challenge the reader into looking at life and love from a different point of view. I have written these verses from the heart and I hope they will touch yours.

Reincarnation

As a Spiritualist reincarnation is something I believe in. I believe we have many lives, we each choose what challenges and lessons we wish to learn in each incarnation. Of course we each have a choice whether to incarnate or not, we can still learn and grow in the spirit realms, however as we see it the Earth is our class room. As a Spiritualist, we believe we incarnate as humans unlike some other religions and we incarnate in soul groups, each taking a different role in each incarnation, sometimes the parent, others the child, the victim or the aggressor, in order that we experience both sides of a situation, this teaches us empathy and understanding, what it is like to be in each others shoes. Our soul has no sex, sometimes we incarnate as female others as male and we incarnate as different races. It is said the only thing we bring with us to each incarnation is our eyes, hence the eyes are the windows to our soul.
When we do readings spirit come back to their loved ones in a form their loved ones will recognise in order to identify with them, this does not mean they spend their time in the spirit realms as an old person if they were elderly when they passed over.
Animals also incarnate and have their own soul groups and progress up through the animal kingdom.
The reason I have chosen to feature Dr. Brian Weiss here, is because he is well experienced in this field of past life therapy using hypnosis to regress the subject. I have read most of his books and they make very interesting reading and have included an excerpt from one of his books

There is someone special for everyone. Often there are two or three or even four. They come from different generations. They travel across oceans of time and the depths of heavenly dimensions to be with you again. They come from the other side, from heaven. They look different, but your heart knows them. Your heart has held them in arms like yours in the moon-filled deserts of Egypt and the ancient plains of Mongolia. You have ridden together in the armies of forgotten warrior-generals, and you have lived together in the sand-covered caves of the Ancient Ones. You are bonded together throughout eternity, and you will never be alone.
Your head may interfere: "I do not know you." Your heart knows.
He takes your hand for the first time, and the memory of his touch transcends time and sends a jolt through every atom of your being. She looks into your eyes, and you see a soul companion across centuries. Your stomach turns upside down. Your arms are gooseflesh. Everything outside this moment loses its importance.
He may not recognize you, even though you have finally met again, even though you know him. You can feel the bond. You can see the potential, the future. But he does not. His fears, his intellect, his problems keep a veil over his heart's eyes. He does not let you help him sweep the veil aside. You mourn and grieve, and he moves on. Destiny can be so delicate.
When both recognize each other, no volcano could erupt with more passion. The energy released is tremendous.
Soul recognition may be immediate. A sudden feeling of familiarity, of knowing this new person at depths far beyond what the conscious mind could know. At depths usually reserved for the most intimate family members. Or even deeper than that. Intuitively knowing what to say, how they will react. A feeling of safety and a trust far greater than could be earned in only one day or one week or one month.
Soul recognition may be subtle and slow. A dawning of awareness as the veil is gently lifted. Not everyone is ready to see right away. There is a timing at work, and patience may be necessary for the one who sees first.
You may be awakened to the presence of your soul companion by a look, a dream, a memory, a feeling. You may be awakened by the touch of his hands or the kiss of her lips, and your soul is jolted back to life.
The touch that awakens may be that of your child, of a parent, of a sibling, or of a true friend. Or it may be your beloved, reaching across the centuries, to kiss you of her lips, and your soul is jolted back to life.

 AFTERLIFE

 

What if you believed that this life was all that there is. That there was no afterlife, no heaven and no hell. How would you view life? Would you live for the moment? doing whatever you wanted, knowing that it didn't matter who you hurt and how you treated others? Or would you be sad knowing this was all that there was. If this is all there is, how would you feel knowing all your hopes, dreams and aspirations die with you? Knowing that you will never again see those you love when either they or you die. Wouldn't you feel sad? Wouldn't you question the whole meaning of life?

There are some people who believe in just this but the vast majority of us do believe in something, the desire to worship and believe in something is inherent within all of us. Be it a Higher Power or God, there is a tiny spark within all of us to believe what is right and wrong and to know there is something bigger than us. It's been there from the beginning of time. Ok there are someone people who's tiny spark may not be very bright but I firmly believe it is still there and its just a question of finding the right catalyst to trigger it off to burn a bit brighter.

If you believe there is a greater power and after we die we go on to live eternally how do you view your life. I feel this makes us more hopeful and it gives life more meaning and its more comforting to think our loved ones will live on. It makes our live feel more like a preparation for the next and it makes us more aware of how we should live our life and you can view life as a learning process.

But supposing you are given definite proof we don't die at all and you are given evidence that your loved ones live on? Supposing you are given evidence by those who have died messages beyond the grave, only something you could possibly know or better still where a third party has to verify this evidence? Would this comfort you to know, this life is not the end and know that you will meet your loved ones again? Would this change your outlook on life, would you live it differently with new meaning?

I firmly believe when you are given this hard evidence from spirit, you do see the bigger picture, it enables you to understand why we are here on Earth and it is comforting and it takes away the fear of death. For its fear of the unknown that causes the distress. It helps us view what is important in life and makes us realise material objects are just objects and do not matter in the scheme of things. Importantly it also fans that spark of righteousness thats within all of us to live our lives better and to treat others better. It brings us contentment.

A FEW MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT SPIRITUALISM

I was sent this in my mail bag. Firstly I think when you disrespect someones views and then do not give them the right to reply it is cowardly. Secondly I believe everyone has the right to free speech and their own opinions. Thirdly I do not believe in pushing my views and religion on to others. Everyone is entitled to believe in what they wish. And lastly it is because of bigoted and closed views world wars have begun. There are many religions in the world and that is fine but do we have the right to push our beliefs on to others because we disagree? I would hope we all have a common goal to treat each person as we would treat ourselves and to love one another unconditionally. The only one who is entitled to judge us is our God.

Spiritualism is a religion that gives an understanding of God and encourages us to act with a high sense of duty towards others. Spiritualism stimulates spiritual growth and prepares us for eternal existence in the spirit-world.

Spiritualism is a science because it is based upon proven facts that can be demonstrated and scientifically classified. Spiritualism is the science of life as it encourages the search for truth in every department of existence, in nature and in human psychology. 

Spiritualism is a philosophy that attempts to understand people, their physical, intellectual, moral, and spiritual being. As Spirit is the moving force of the Universe, so Spiritualist philosophy embraces the whole realm of nature.

Psychics in the Bible and today seek financial gain more than they want to help. In Acts 16:16-19 (NIV), we see the story of Paul and Silas followed by the fortune-telling slave girl. The slave girl kept shouting to the crowds that these were the servants of God and were coming to preach the message of salvation. She did this several times until Paul lost patience and commanded the demon to come out of her. But when the demon spirit left the slave girl, she no longer had the ability to tell fortunes which infuriated her owners because of the loss in revenue. It's much the same way today. Psychics set up telephone hotlines to have you call for a reading and you end up paying hundreds of dollars for it. Psychics will tell you they are here to help, but if they truly wanted to help they would do it for free.

Psychics do this for free, you are paying for their time not their advice, most of the cost of these calls are taken up by the phone companies the lines are rented from and agency overheads, the actual readers get a small percentage of the fee. Because the readers time is taken up giving advice, it prevents then working in other occupations and the vast majority of these psychic advisers are highly trained counsellors with professional qualifications. Would you expect to go to a therapist and get this service for free?

Psychics oftentimes speak half-truths. Notice in the Bible that the slave girl in "Acts 16 (NIV)" spoke the truth initially because Paul and Silas were actually there to preach the Gospel. Keep in mind however that Satan and his demons usually present themselves as angels of light in the beginning. If this were not so, then they would not be able to pull in such a large following of people. The slave girl was merely establishing credibility by speaking a truth and then there would be no problem getting people to believe anything (truth or lie) she said after that.

Saul died because he sought out a psychic. The one Bible event that should make anyone fearful of seeking out psychics today is what happened to King Saul in the Old Testament. In "1 Samuel 28 (NIV)", King Saul was approaching the end of his reign. He had not been in God's will and God basically was not answering his prayers (Saul had prayed for an answer for what to do about the Phillistine Army surrounding the camp at Gilboa). So, Saul disguised himself and went to see the psychic (medium) at Endor. Of course Saul displayed his double standard having already decreed the illegality of psychics. The medium brought up the spirit of Samuel and he told Saul that the next day he would die in battle along with his sons--devastating news for Saul. In 1 Chronicles 10:13 (NIV), the Bible says that one of the reasons Saul died was because he sought out a psychic.

History - Ancient Spiritualism

The belief in, and practice of communication with, spirits has existed in all nations. Spiritual phenomenon have occurred throughout human history, with people being entranced, inspired and influenced by spirit intelligences. During moments of ecstasy, in dreams, reveries, drug induced states and deep meditations people have experienced spirit awareness. In fact, mankind’s history, literature, folk law and fairytales are full of mystical spiritual beings both good and bad.

In ancient times, primitive man had no doubt that his ancestors survived death and ancestor-worship was a form of religion. Some people had psychic abilities, similar to modern mediums, and were aware of psychic forces the spirit world, and could communicated with spirit peoples.

The Greeks consulted oracles and the Egyptians and Romans practised fortune-telling and prophecy to obtain guidance from the gods. Even today some cultures have their witch-doctors and shamans, who invoke the powers of the spirit for healing and giving guidance.

Christianity and Spiritualism

The Christian Church was founded on spirit communication and phenomena that could be described as mediumship. Throughout the bible are many examples of spiritual happenings, inspirational speech, speaking in other languages, spiritual voices, and angel messengers foretelling the coming of prophets. Many Spiritualists believe that Jesus had an exceptional psychic and mediumship ability as illustrated in the reports of his healing powers, inspired teachings, the transfiguration, and the many so-called ‘miracles’ that occurred in his presence. After his death, Jesus was seen and heard by his followers and it seems that mediumship played an important part in the spreading of the new religion.


However, in the 4th century, Christian leaders decided that the use of psychic and mediumship abilities was wrong unless performed by the Christian priesthood. All others who demonstrated spiritual abilities were denounced as ‘false prophets’, evil sorcerers, heretics and were liable to punishment.


In 1484 the Pope strongly denounced mediums. The Church also sanctioned the publication of a book entitled, Malleus Maleficarum or ‘Hammer of the Witches,’ that described all people who communicated with spirits as witches and stated that they should be severely punished. After this, there was a long period of persecution where people suspected of using psychic abilities were in danger of trial, torture and execution. During these times thousands of mediums were put to death by the church-sanctioned ‘witch-hunters’.

18th Century

Emmanuel Swedenborg

In the 18th century a Swedish scientist and astronomer, Emmanuel Swedenborg, become
well-known for his philosophical writings that, he claimed, were received from spirit teachers
and inspirers.

Andrew Jackson Davis

Emmanuel Swedenborg died in 1772 and later he communicated from the spirit world through
the mediumship of a young American, Andrew Jackson Davis.

Wesley family - Epworth Rectory

Spiritual phenomena in the form of knockings also occurred in the 18th century in England at the Epworth Rectory, home of the Wesley family.

My religion is SPIRITUALISM, it is not dissimilar from Christianity in that we believe in God and the hierarchy or Angels and we follow The 7 principals.

Seven Principles of Spiritualism

Our Seven Principles are legally accepted and a lawfully recognised definition of the religious philosophy of Spiritualism. A brief explanation of each one follows:

1.The Fatherhood of God

By the study of Nature - that is, by trying to understand the Laws of Cause & Effect which govern all that is happening around us - we recognise that there is a creative force in the universe. This force, or energy, not only created the whole universe, but also life itself in its many forms and is continuing to create today. The effects of this eternal creation can be seen around us and this leads us to the evidence that 'God' - 'The Creative Force' - manifests directly, or indirectly, in all things. We know this power as God and as we are part of the Life created by God, we acknowledge God as our Father.

2.The Brotherhood of Man

Because we all come from the same universal life source we are, in effect, one large family, small individual offshoot from the whole. This means that all mankind is part of a brotherhood. A brotherhood is a community for mutual support and comfort. We are all members of the same divine family. We need to share our joys as well as our burdens; we need to understand the needs of other individuals in order to assist them as part of our service to each other. As we learn to give so must we also learn to receive thereby achieving the necessary balance for our life. We must look not only to the material necessities of our fellow creatures but also to their spiritual needs and help those in need to become strong and worthy of their relationship in the Family of God.

3.Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels

All religions believe in life after death but only Spiritualism shows that it is true by demonstrating that communication with departed spirits can and does take place. Spiritualist Churches provide one of the venues where communication, through mediumship, is possible and many loved relatives and friends take advantage of this opportunity to continue to take an interest in our welfare. There are also spirit people/teachers who are dedicated to the welfare and service of mankind. Some (e.g. Silver Birch) bring inspiration and teachings whilst others work within the healing ministry.

4.Continuous Existence of the Human Soul

It is scientifically proven that matter (being part of the creative force, or energy) cannot be destroyed; it merely changes its form. Spirit, as part of the Creative Force is, therefore, indestructible. On the death of the physical body, the spirit continues as an integral part of a world, which interpenetrates our world but in a different dimension. This world is referred to as the Spirit World. In spirit life we have a spirit body, which until we progress far enough, is a replica of our earthly body. We are the same individuals in every way with the same personalities and characteristics and we change only by progression, or otherwise, as a result of our own efforts. Our personal responsibilities do not stop at death.

5.Personal Responsibility

This principle is the one which places responsibility for wrongful thoughts and deeds where it belongs - with the individual. It is the acceptance of responsibility for every aspect of our lives and the use to which we place our lives depends entirely upon ourselves. It is not possible for any other person, or outside influence, to interfere with our spiritual development, unless we are willing to allow this. No one can put right the wrongdoing except the offender. As we are given freedom of choice (freewill) so also are we given the ability to recognise what is right from what is wrong. We are totally, as well as personally, responsible.

6.Compensation and Retribution hereafter for all Good and Evil Deeds done on Earth

As with all the other Principles, the natural laws apply and this one echoes the law of Cause and Effect (as you sow, so shall you reap). One cannot be cruel and vindictive towards others and expect love and popularity in return. It must be understood that the compensatory or retributive effects of this law operate now -on earth - they do not wait until we begin to live in the Spirit World.

7.Eternal Progress open to every Human Soul

In every heart there exists the desire for progress and to every human spirit belongs the power to progress in wisdom and love.

All who desire to tread the path that leads to perfection are able to pursue it. The rate of progress is directly proportional to the desire for mental and spiritual understanding. If we do our best in earth life to follow our inward prompting or intuitions; we shall find progress very easy, on earth as in spirit; if not, every step in advancement will follow a struggle against imperfections, which we ourselves will have worked into our natures. Within the Family of God, with all the advantages that our realisation of that state can give us, we are all given the opportunity to be responsible for our own eternal progress.

History - Modern Spiritualism

A family who moved to a homestead in Hydesville, New York State, USA were disturbed by noises, knockings, movements of objects and other unusual phenomena.

The two children Catherine and Margaretta discovered that if they spoke out then the mysterious noises seemed to respond and it became clear that the phenomena were not just random manifestations of energy but were under the control of some invisible intelligence. In a world where such happenings were feared and where religion labelled them as evil, these happenings soon gained the attention of neighbours and family friends. The news of these happenings spread far and wide, at times many bystanders came to marvel at the unexplained knockings and noises.

On March 31, 1848, the two sisters, Margaretta and Catherine Fox, established intelligent, two way  communication with a spirit person who was responsible for producing the phenomena.

Farmstead of the Fox Family

A committee of investigation was formed and communicated with the spirit who had been harassing the Fox family. The committee listened out for the response signal knocks and they established that the communicator was Charles Rosna, who had been murdered and buried beneath the cellar of the homestead. An excavation of the cellar later proved that there was indeed the remains of a body buried there.

The publicity which these events aroused and the investigations carried out at the time led to mediumship being discussed openly. The Fox family suffered scorn, ridicule, and persecution but because of them advice came from spirit people as to how to encourage spirit communication. The printing press, cheaper newspapers and books, the improved literacy amongst the people, the rail road and improved postal service meant that many learned about this new spiritual phenomena and how it could be achieved. In many homes, groups of people met and, following the advice, were successful in obtaining spirit communication for themselves. And, once communication was established, the spirit people could direct the process and give specific guidance to further help the process.

It became clear that certain people were naturally mediumistic and the new forms of communication enabled strikingly accurate and detailed information to be communicated. Spiritual phenomena flowed from the many Spiritualist groups which provided, time after time, personal joyful evidence confirming the existence of a spirit world that could communicate with those still on earth. In just a few years many groups of Spiritualists formed in America to seek psychic phenomena and to consider the religious implications which lay behind the teaching received from spirit.

In time, both the phenomena and the teachings attracted the attention of eminent scientists and intellectuals in America and Britain. A Mrs Hayden brought the new knowledge to England and openly demonstrated mediumship here. She was persecuted and insulted by the press and by some in the established Christian church, however her mediumship was defended by public figures, such as Robert Owen, who embraced Spiritualism after witnessing successful spirit communications with her.

In 1853 the first Spiritualist Church was established in the Britain at Keighley in Yorkshire, and the first Spiritualist newspaper, The Yorkshire Spiritual Telegraph, was published in 1855. By the 1870s there were numerous Spiritualist societies and churches throughout the country.

Today, Spiritualism allows all people to witness, and learn for themselves, communication with the spirit world. Before, information about such practices was banned and considered dangerous and evil. However, by the events at Hydesville, ignorance and fear concerning the spirit world is passing away and all people can benefit from the love, guidance, and wisdom from those who have gone before who are now progressing in the spirit world
