I am a great believer in Karma, but just what is it? Karma comes from the Sanskrit and ancient Indian Language with the underlying principal that every deed in our lives will affect our future life. For example, if we treat others badly during our lifetime we will have negative experiences later on in that lifetime or in future lifetimes. Likewise, if we treat others well we will be rewarded by positive experiences.

THE BENEFITS OF MEDITATION

It is well known how Meditation is beneficial to us Holistic Practioners, below are some interesting developments I found on the 'Daily Mail' online.

From a health point of view Meditation, reduces blood pressure and thus heart disease, this will then reduce the negative effects this has on the body as a whole. It instils a feeling of well being and reduces the effects of stress on the body, High Blood Pressure for one and helps restore other negative effects such as an impared immune system.

On a Psychic level, meditation teaches mind control, something very necessary for those who wish to develop their psychic abilities as all work in the field of the psychic and mediumship is done by the use of our mind as it enables us to tap into our higherself our soul. Meditation relaxes and frees up our mind so we can clear it to disassociate it, in order to enable us to work with our spirit. For to enable us to control our psychic abilities to be able to switch it on and off at will, we need to have good mind control. Meditation is therefore a must.

Meditation really is good for the brain as study reveals it switches off areas linked to ADHD and Alzheimer’s

  • Meditation decreased activity in area in the brain implicated in a range of neurological disorders
  • Yale University scientists suggest it could even slow down the onset of dementia

Meditation could help temper the symptoms of ADHD and Alzheimer's scientists say. A groundbreaking study has revealed that the ancient relaxation technique can switch off areas of the brain associated with a range of psychiatric disorders. It is now hoped that the findings will shed light on how neurological diseases work and prompt the development of effective treatment.

Meditation could help temper the symptoms of ADHD and Alzhemeimer's according to scientists from Yale University  Past research has shown meditation, which has become increasingly popular over recent years, has helped people quit smoking, cope with cancer, and even prevent psoriasis.
But scientists at Yale University now believe it can help people to stay focused and boost happiness, slowing down the onset of dementia. Lead researcher Judson Brewer said: 'Meditation's ability to help people stay in the moment has been part of philosophical and contemplative practices for thousands of years. 'Conversely, the hallmarks of many forms of mental illness is a preoccupation with one's own thoughts, a condition meditation seems to affect.

Brain scans revealed that meditators had decreased activity in an area of the brain implicated in a range of neurological disorders 'This gives us some nice cues as to the neural mechanisms of how it might be working clinically.' During the study, detailed in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, both experienced and novice meditators were monitored as they practiced three different meditation techniques. Brain scans revealed that experienced meditators had decreased activity in area called the default mode network. This region of the brain has been implicated in lapses of attention and disorders such as anxiety, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, and even the build-up of beta amyloid plaques in Alzheimer's disease. Reduced activity was shown regardless of the type meditation and also during rest, suggesting that experienced meditators are less susceptible diseases such as autism, schizophrenia.

In a similar vein the University of Wisconsin is planning a study early next year to investigate the neurological effects of meditation and yoga with veterans. It is thought mindfulness meditation holds promise for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which provokes intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness and hypervigilance. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), which combines meditation with orthodox 'thought training', is already recommended for depression in Britain and is available on the NHS. A report published by a mental health charity last year argued that if more GPs could offer the therapy it would cut the financial burden of depression, which costs the UK £7.5 billion a year.

WHO NEEDS BOTOX OR FILLERS ETC. BEAUTY REALLY DOES COME FROM THE SOUL

an insult I recieved where someone accused me of lying about my looks LOL!

You may well ask why this is on here, well its to prove you can look good without fillers and botox and a facelift, it is possible. Prevention is the biggest part of it as damage is hard to rectify but even the worst neglected badly treated skin can be improved by looking after your health. It's not just what you put on your skin but what goes into your body, but not only that, your well being is the most important element of all that has to come from within 'YOUR HEART' This leads me to the snapshot above. I was complimenting a 58 year old lady as she was saying her looks were down to a good heart, you can see I agreed with her as I write this blog to tell others the secret to looking good and I gave her the link and out of no where she insults me LOL! And this comes from a lady with a 'good heart' make your own conclusions about that LOL! I couldn't get all the conversation in the frame but it got a lot more insulting, needless really as I was paying her a compliment and agreeing beauty comes from the heart and soul. And so to my blog here you will find tips and solutions on how to achieve well being and allow your souls' beauty to shine through, you really don't need botox and fillers etc, it truly does come from within.

NEW DEPRESSION TREATMENT

The reason I have included this story in my blog today is, this blog is about WELL BEING and not totally devoted to psychic subjects and Wicca and the spiritual aspects of our lives. I believe well being and beauty come from within therefore I take the Holistic approach.

I have been saying for years that there is no shame to suffering from depression for too long this complaint has a stigma and their are many causes BUT what is clear depression is no different from suffering any other physical ailment, such as diabetes, thyroid toxicosis etc. where there is a hormonal/chemical imbalance as this article below demonstrates.

For those who suffer depression, it is not all in your mind and it is also down right cruel to have someone tell you to pull yourself together, its akin to have someone tell someone with a broken leg to shut up and heal the leg yourself.

I am all for more research into this field, we don't know enough about the complexities of the brain but what is coming out of research so far is this: "ITS NOT ALL IN THE MIND". So if I can publicise and enlighten a few more ignorant people about depression I will do.

The nasal spray that can tackle depression in just two hours

A nasal spray could be a new way to tackle depression and anxiety.
The spray, based on a natural brain chemical, could be effective within two hours, compared to several days for some of the most widely used antidepressant drugs.
The liquid is released at the top of the nose and is designed to penetrate the brain areas involved in mood.
A clinical trial is now under way looking at the feasibility of the treatment.
Researchers say future studies could look at the effects of the brain chemical in patients with other psychiatric disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
It is estimated that one in four women and one in ten men will require treatment for depression at some time in their lives.
One of the downsides of antidepressant pills is that they can take a long time to work — between two and eight weeks.
In a new trial at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, researchers are investigating the use of a nose spray containing a brain chemical called neuropeptide.
These are chemicals used by nerve cells in the brain to communicate with each other.
Some of the chemicals, and one in particular — neuropeptide Y — is thought to be involved in how the brain regulates behaviour and mood.
This compound is the most abundant peptide in the human brain, and is found in nerve fibres alongside another chemical called norepinephrine, which is thought to be involved in regulating mood and anxiety.
Previous research has also shown that stress leads to the release of the chemical, and a recent study by University of Michigan researchers, published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, found that people who have a genetic predisposition to have low neuropeptide levels may be at higher risk of developing depression.

It is estimated that one in four women and one in ten men will require treatment for depression at some time in their lives
But though research has suggested neuropeptide Y may be effective for treating psychiatric disorders, there have been problems in moving the compound into the brain. This is mainly because it is a large molecule, and has difficulty passing through the blood-brain barrier which protects the brain from potentially harmful compounds in the blood.
However, nasal sprays can overcome this problem.
The upper part of the nose is like a back door into the brain because the nerves involved in smell provide a pathway straight into the central nervous system.
The new trial, which involves 15 volunteers aged 25 to 45, is designed to investigate how well the spray and neuropeptide Y work in the brain, and the effects will be compared with a placebo.
Researchers, who expect results in about two months, use an extra-powerful device to get the liquid as high as possible in the nose, into the area at the very top which is rich in nerves used for detecting smells.
Commenting on the research, a spokesperson from mental health charity Mind says: ‘This research is at an early stage and it remains to be seen whether this trial will lead to a new treatment.
‘It is important to recognise that alternative approaches to antidepressants, such as talking therapies and exercise, can also have positive results.’

WELLCOME TO: "Making the most of YOU"

THIS BLOG IS NOT JUST FOR WOMEN BUT MEN TOO

As this blog evolves I shall be adding posts that equally apply to both men and women.

This blog is about making the most of what nature has bestowed on us and how to achieve well-being and beauty within ourselves, inside and out.

In this blog I shall explore how we can achieve inner harmony for unless we feel good about ourselves how can we pass that on to others. Stress is the main cause of ill health in the western world, not only does it rob ourselves of our health, it affects how we look and leads to premature ageing. So to make the most of what nature has bestowed upon us we have to approach this from the inside, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is my holistic approach to achieving the best we can be.

When I mention spiritually I am not talking about a specific religion or set of beliefs, for every religion mentions the spiritual side of us and in holistic therapies, which is the approach of this blog, we are mind, body and spirit, essentially we are spirit within a human body. If we tackle this part of us we will achieve inner harmony and that will reflect on the outside and give us that beautiful glow.

It's also about achieving inner confidence, we can achieve this by caring for ourselves, good grooming is not being vain, far from it, its about maintaining our health, caring for our hair, nails and feet and keeping them free from infection. When we feel good about ourselves, we feel good about others, it raises our self esteem and gives us a buzz.

PSYCHIC QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

PSYCHIC QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE TO FORECAST THE FUTURE AND OTHER QUESTIONS?

I am often asked various questions pertaining to the spirit world and various aspects of the psychic, here are some of them: I will in time feature more questions and answers as this webpage evolves

Q. Is a psychic or medium a fortune teller?
A. It may surprise you to know psychics and mediums are not fortune tellers
Q. Is it possible to forecast the future?
A.Well not 100% and this is because of free will.
Q. What is free will?
A. Free will is YOUR right to decide what you want to do about a situation, it is a choice
Q. How does free will affect a situation?
A. Well before we incarnate as Spirit in a human body, we decide on what experiences and challenges that will benefit our spiritual growth. However we are given the choice (free will) as to whether we go through with the experience or challenge. In effect we are allowed to change or mind.
Q. So are you saying we all know what lies before us?
A. Well in a way we all do. Remember we are 'Spirit' in a human body and your spirit does retain a memory but it is deep in our subconscious. This memory is retained deeply for a reason to help us fulfill our experiences and challenges we ourselves chose. However it is also at this deep level so we are not so aware. If you knew what lay before you would you go through with it? Probably not but we still retain this memory deeply and this reflects in our Aura.
Q. So what is the Aura?
A.The aura is The Aura is an electromagnetic field that surrounds living bodies, this includes people, animals, plants and crystals and is composed of several layers that are constantly moving. The Aura links us to whats known as Universal energy i.e. that is all the knowledge in the Universe past, present and future. It is on this aura that psychics are able to tap into and access your past, whats going on in the present and the possible future and I say possible specifically if your goal or desire is dependent on other people, for remember every person involved in a situation has free will.
