ASTRIDESTELLA PHILOSOPHY~ "The reward is in the giving"

The story from the Daily Mail doesn't surprise me in the least, something I discovered for myself many years ago and more so because I worked in the caring professions. I have written much on this over the years and its something I teach in Spirit Philosophy and something many discovered centuries ago from when that proverb was written "It is better to give than to receive", here this study details scientific evidence to prove this. But there's more to it than science looking at this holistically i.e. mind, body and the most important aspect of ourselves 'spirit' following spiritual principals 'retribution and compensation for all souls. This is the basis for one of the most fundamental laws of the Universe, the one of "Cause and effect". What you do today ultimately affects tomorrow, like the ripples from a stone thrown into a pool of water, these effects of the ripples are wide reaching and you never know how far those ripples will travel and what effect they will have on the surroundings. 

When we do a kindness, the recipient more often than not will feel touched that you helped them and want to repay you or pass on the kindness. Of course there will be some who will take your kindness for granted and I like to think those that do are few and far between and we should not dislike those but instead pity them for they are younger souls who have not yet discovered what you give out you get back. All we can do is hope by showing example something will resonate within their psyche and trigger something, where they will see how the Universe works.

As I have said many, many times: "The reward is in the giving"

Forget chocolate, sex and money... caring for others can bring just as much pleasure and benefit your health

• Support-giving triggers reward-related regions of the brain
• Helping others can boost happiness and reduce stress

Caring for friends and family benefits the giver, not just the receiver, scientists say.
Confirming the proverb 'it is better to give than to receive' researchers at the University of California say that lending support to others is a pleasurable experience which can boost happiness and lower stress.
During trials they discovered that when patients were able to help loved ones they experienced positive emotions commonly associated with chocolate, sex and money.

Lead researcher, Naomi Eisenberger said: 'When people talk about the ways in which social support is good for our health, they typically assume that the benefits of social support come from the support we receive from others.
'But it now seems likely that some of the health benefits of social support actually come from the support we provide to others.'
During the study 20 young heterosexual couples in healthy relationships were observed.
Each of the men were subjected to painful electric shocks while their girlfriends underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) brain scans which measured changes in blood flow related to neural activity in the brain.
At times, the women could provide support by holding the arm of their boyfriends, but on other occasions they were forced to watch as their partners received shocks.
Findings revealed that when women were able to help their boyfriends reward-related regions of the brain were activated, including the ventral striatum and septal area.
Under conditions in which no support was provided, these regions showed decreased activity.
Eisenberger said: 'One of these regions, the ventral striatum, is typically active in response to simple rewards like chocolate, sex and money.'
'The fact that support-giving also activates this region suggests that support-giving may be processed by the brain as a very basic type of rewarding experience.'
Findings, published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine also suggest that offering support to others can help reduce stress.
Scientists noted an interesting pattern of neural activity in the septal area, which in addition to being a pleasure center, plays a role in stress-reduction by inhibiting regions of the brain that process threats.
Eisenberger said: 'This finding suggests that support-giving may have stress-reducing effects for the person who provides the support.'
She also noted that support-giving could be a basic human instinct, aiding the 'survival of our species.'

Eisenberger is now conducting further research on how giving to others may reduce our stress responses and ultimately contribute to better health.

HOW TO SQUEEZE A SPOT CORRECTLY

Now the golden rule is you don't squeeze spots as you can damage the skin, cause bruising and scarring and spread infection, but let's be honest we have all done it. If you must do this, then do it correctly in the way us beauty therapists do. Only spots that are ripe and have a 'white head' can be extracted any other kind can lead to problems of spreading infection etc.

You need to open up the pores of the skin first and this can be done in one of two ways, both by heating the skin. Either by steaming the skin, must not be done if your skin is highly vascular or you suffer from broken capillaries or acne rosacea, or by the use of a hot compress but again not if you suffer from acne rosacea. If you have a few broken capillaries you can protect the areas affected by petroleum jelly before applying the compress.

For the compress you will need a freshly laundered small hand towel wrung out in as hot water as you can bear and is comfortable on the face, and protect your hair with a shower cap. 

Also required are:

• A pair of PVC or latex gloves
• Clean tissues
• Teatree essential oil if not sensitive to it or Lavender essential oil, failing those antiseptic lotion
• Damp cotton wool pads for the eyes

Wring out the small hand towel in the hot water and fold in half length wise and lying semi reclined drape it over the face placing the centre of the folded towel on the chin and draping it over the cheeks and up onto the forehead leaving out the nostrils to enable you to breathe. Cover your eyes with the damp pads and relax for 5 minutes.

Not only does this open the pores to prepare for spot extractions it also moisturises the skin.

Wash your hands throughly and glove up and covering a finger on both hands, index fingers are ideal and using the diagram here as a guide, push down under the spot and trying to meet the fingers together underneath it, this will apply pressure within the hair follicle and cause the spot to rupture, this expressing the excess sebum and dead white blood cells, which make up the white matter in the spot along with a little serous fluid. Using a clean cotton bud apply a little neat teatree or lavender essential oil or antiseptic fluid. For additional spots you must use clean tissues over your gloved fingers for each spot. Whatever you do, if the spot wont budge don't force it as you will cause broken capillaries in the skin, and these are permanent or spread the infection further. In this case apply a little of the a fore mentioned essential oils and leave alone, they will ripen in there own good time

Treating spots in this way is not a substitute for good skincare however and more often or not dirty fingers or make up brushes are common culprits leading to spots. There are many reasons for break outs from hormone imbalances, to poor hygiene, stress or bad skincare. If you have full blown acne, then I urge you to seek medical advice as there are many effective treatments to alleviate this distressing condition.

SYNCHRONICITY

Although Jung has coined the word here, I feel it is making 'Synchronicity' more complex than it needs to be, it means the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection. To me and reading about the event detailed below, its simply premonition. Of course there is no rational explanation for synchronicity, but parapsychological events don't have a rational explanation for the world of Spirit cannot be explained in human earth terms.  When you have lived your life and you look back on it you will see this synchronicity in action, whether it was gut feelings/intuition at the time and the outcome, synchronicity will make sense and it really isn't complex at all. As for no discernible causal connection, indeed there is, it's spirit and your own soul in action. We are more than a living creature, we are more than a mind, we have a soul, a spirit and that is the reason for synchronicity.

What is Synchronicity?

The term synchronicity is coined by Jung* to express a concept that belongs to him. It is about acausal connection of two or more psycho-physic phenomena. This concept was inspired to him by a patient's case that was in situation of impasse in treatment. Her exaggerate rationalism (animus inflation) was holding her back from assimilating unconscious materials. One night, the patient dreamt a golden scarab - cetonia aurata. The next day, during the psychotherapy session, a real insect this time, hit against the Jung's cabinet window. Jung caught it and discovered surprisingly that it was a golden scarab; a very rare presence for that climate.

So, the idea is all about coincidence: in this case, between the scarab dreamt by the patient and its appearance in reality, in the psychotherapy cabinet.

But this coincidence is not senseless, a simple coincidence. By using the amplification method, Jung associates in connection with the scarab and comes to the concept of death and rebirth from the esoteric philosophy of antiquity, a process that, in a symbolic way, the patient should experience for a renewal and vitalization of her unilateral personality, the cause of the neurosis she was suffering from.

Thus, a significant coincidence of physical and psychological phenomena that are a causal connected.



Jung's book on synchronicity

Behind all these phenomena Jung places the archetype or the constellation of an archetype, which, in his view, is a process that engages equally objective manifestations, in the physical world, and subjective ones, in the psychological universe.

Jung writes a book on synchronicity together with Nobel laureate W. Pauli, a book we invite you to read (learn more).

Synchronicity, as an explicative theory, applies to phenomena from the area of parapsychology, prevision and premonition, to I Ching (specific method of consulting the Oracle of Changes), to astrology and many other borderline fields.

It is also present in psychotherapy, as we have already shown. Several psychoanalysts noted certain strange coincidences in which their patients received information about them by extra-sensorial ways, information that was not accessible to the general public.

*Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) had a significant contribution to the psychoanalytical movement and is generally considered as the prototype of the dissident through the impact of his scission and the amplification of the movement he created in his turn (analytical psychology).


 

Jung was the son of a Swiss reverend. He completed his medical studies, specialized in psychiatry and joined the staff of Burgholzli, the renowned psychiatric hospital in Zurich, run at that time by the famous Dr. Eugen Bleuler.

In 1902-1903 he attended a traineeship in Paris with Pierre Janet, and then returned to Zurich and he was called senior physician at Burgholzli.

It was in this context that Jung was introduced to Freud in 1907. Freud would be seduced by the prestige and personality of Jung and would soon see in him the spiritual son that could ensure the survival of psychoanalysis, so much so as Jung was not Jewish.

 

Intense, professional and friendship bonds form between the two, with an ambivalence dominated by the inclination of Jung to underestimate himself in comparison with Freud, the fervor of his devotion to the "father" of psychoanalysis and oneiric hostility (emphasized by Freud in the common interpretation of dreams).

Jung had a swift ascension in the hierarchy of psychoanalysis. He became the editor of Jahrbuch.

In 1908, he traveled to the United States and in 1910 he became the first president o the International Association of Psychoanalysis.

The reluctance of Jung towards the Freudian theory referred to the role of sexuality in the psychic development. In fact, Jung never completely embraced the sexual theory of Freud.

Since 1912 he became more and more distant in his writings, which would cause a scission materialized in 1914 by his resignation from all the positions he already held.

After a period of personal turmoil, Jung founded his own school and produced a vast number of studies that would attract a great number of disciples.

 

By abandoning the meanders of psychosexuality, Jung would establish himself in the fields of spirituality and esoteric science.

The spirit guide Silver Birch was channelled through a medium called Maurice Barbanell, who passed away 17th July 1981 at the age of 79. Maurice Barbanell was the founder and editor of a weekly Spiritualist newspaper, which is still in circulation today. Barbanell devoted half a century of his life spreading spiritual knowledge in the Psychic News.

Maurice Barbanell was born to Jewish Parents, in one or East London’s poor areas. His mother was devoutly religious, but his father was an atheist, due to this difference Barbanell heard many arguments between his parents. For a time Barbanell had the same outlook as his father, but later changed to agnosticism.

Later in life Barbanell was invited by a medium to join her at a séance, but was not impressed with what he saw, and even fell asleep on his second visit. What was strange with his ‘sleep’ and he himself thought he was asleep, in fact was in trance, having been seen by others on the circle and a Red Indian had spoken through him.

Through this trance, he was encouraged to start a paper for this guides teachings, which is how the Psychic News came about. It was many years before Barbanell revealed to his readers who was channelling the wisdom, as he did not want to be criticised for publishing his own mediumship Barbanell held many home circles where his guide Silver Birch would speak. It was always recorded in shorthand.

Habits that can lead to mouth cancer

Mouth cancer is one of the least well known cancers, but it kills more people each year than testicular and cervical cancer combined.
In the UK, the number of new cases have soared by nearly 50 per cent in the last 10 years. Each year around 6,000 people are diagnosed with the disease, and around 1,800 people die from it.
This year, as part of Mouth Cancer Action Month, the British Dental Health Association are aimimg to increase awareness of the warning signs and risk factors for mouth cancer, and urge people ‘If in doubt, get checked out’.

Habits that put you at risk of mouth cancer

Everyday habits that increase your risk of mouth cancer include:

Smoking

This is the number one risk factor for mouth cancer. The saliva in your mouth helps spread around the carcinogens in cigarette smoke, increasing your risk.

Alcohol

Helps smoke absorption in the mouth, so drinking alcohol while smoking increases your risk of mouth cancer even more. If you smoke and drink heavily you are 30 times more likely to develop mouth cancer.

Chewing tobacco

Paan, areca nut and gutka are as dangerous as smoking tobacco, if not more so.

Sex

Experts now think that Human papilloma virus – transmitted during oral sex - could soon overtake alcohol and smoking as the major cause of mouth cancer.

Diet

Poor diet is associated with up to a third of mouth cancer cases. Fruit, vegetables, egg and fish consumption help to lower your risk.

Dental hygiene

Recent research in the US found that people with chronic gum disease had an increased risk of developing oral and neck cancers.

Mouth cancer warning signs

Around two-thirds of mouth cancer cases are discovered in the later stages of the disease. But early detection of mouth cancer can improve five year survival rates to 90 per cent.
Regular dental check ups may catch the disease in its early stages before you are even aware it exists. Common symtoms which you should always get checked out include:

• Ulcers which don’t heal within three weeks
• Red and white patches in the mouth
• Any unusual changes, lumps and swellings in the mouth (can be painless)

AT WHAT POINT DOES THE SOUL ENTER AN UNBORN BABY?

This is a hot topic at what point does the soul enter the body, does it happen at conception or closer to birth?  As a Medium I am often asked, what happens to babies who are lost in the womb through miscarraige or abortion and when does that baby have a soul. I can only go on my teachings and experience and the teachings of Spirit guides. I do know that when a baby passes over it grows up in the spirit realms and he/she will always know who his/her parents are and will be reunited when the parents pass over. 

I lost my first baby I was devastated but some how I just knew this baby was never to be. It gave me comfort to know and this was explained to me at the time by a very experienced Medium, that the soul had chosen me to be its parent and that it was a very pure soul, that had never experienced life in the womb and it wanted to experience this.

But what happens to all those babies souls who are aborted? There will be those who will disagree with my point of view and I am not condoning the practise, but those souls also chose this experience. There will be some who will argue that the soul enters at conception but from spiritual teachings and philosophy from spirit guides this does not seem to be the case. I might add conception happens around a week before the developing blastocyst (a ball of cells) in the fallopian tubes and not in the Uterus so those who use the IUD or the progesterone mini pill, you are in fact rendering the uterus to becoming hostile to the embryo implanting.

From the sources below which are concurrent with Spiritual teachings the soul is not fixed within the fetus until just before birth and is free to leave the fetus and come and go. What happens will depend on that soul's destiny and what is planned and what that soul wishes to experience.

Timing of soul development within the fetus

 When the spirit decides it is going to be that human, the soul begins its development then inside the fetus, even at the beginning of conception. The transformation from spirit to human is the aspect of a new soul, a new personality, a new ego being created. Though spirit is always who you are and is always with you, it is not in a conscious form as your soul is. And your soul is the makeup of your humaness.

Question: You have earlier described when a person crosses over, their soul leaving their physical body and entering in and being absorbed into the spirit. When a baby is reincarnated, is the opposite process underway, namely, a new soul is created and detached from the spirit in order to reside completely within the infant's body?
Spirit Guide: We will try to describe what we think you are asking about. The transformation from spirit to human is the aspect of a new soul, a new personality, a new ego being created. And as this soul is evolving during the pregnancy stage, that is how the humanness is being created. And the consciousness of spirit moving from spirit form into human form, and though spirit is always who you are and is always with you, it is not in a conscious form as your soul is. And your soul is the makeup of your humaness.

Question: And could you describe when the soul enters the infant?

Spirit Guide: When the spirit decides it is going to be that human, the soul begins its development then even at the beginning of conception.

Question: And if you like, it is located inside the fetus, the infant at that time?
Spirit Guide: Yes. For the soul is the beginning of the birth of the human and the spirit will eventually become around, as we have said many times, at two years old--become the subconscious connection to the human but never leaves it.

As to the timing of incarnation, Newton's subjects report entering the fetus usually from somewhere between five months into pregnancy right up until just before birth, with the onus on the soul itself to choose the timing. Wambach provides considerable details in her survey, finding that eighty-nine per cent of her subjects did not enter the fetus until six months into pregnancy, while thirty-three percent of these delayed until just before or even during, birth. Of the other eleven per cent, quite a few suggested they entered as early as the point of conception. She also found that souls appear to know if a child is going to be born prematurely, and make sure they enter in time, even if in something of a rush. Whitton's subjects report that they enter between several months before birth to as late as just after it, while Cannon's subjects report entering any time from conception right up until some days after birth. Perhaps the most balanced view is Modi's, whose patients describe entering properly at any time between conception and the birth itself, but also suggest that they place a least of their soul energy into the fetus at conception.

Spirit: It is at that point at which the spirit chooses to inhabit. It could be at the precise moment of fertilization or conception, or perhaps some time removed from the birth experience, so as not to have to experience the trauma of birth. It is entirely up to that individual spirit's choice.

Probiotic yoghurts DO work - they help your gut to break down carbs

Pro probiotics? Live bacteria in the yoghurts has been found to break down carbohydrates

After wolfing down a pizza you may want to finish with a probiotic yoghurt, after researchers found they help the body to break down carbohydrates.
Scientists from Washington University School of Medicine wanted to look at what impact, if any, live bacteria in popular yoghurts have on digestion.
They performed studies on mice as well as identical female twins using a yoghurt that had five strains of live bacteria.
The team found eating the yoghurt twice a day for seven weeks did not alter the mix of microbes in the intestines of the women or the mice.
However, when they took a closer look at the mice they found there were significant changes in some of the bacterial enzymes involved in metabolising carbohydrates.
Many of the key changes noted in the highly controlled laboratory environment were also found in the seven pairs of twins.


Study author Dr Jeffrey Gordon, said: 'Carbohydrates are an important part of our diet, and the way they are broken down by gut microbes is an important part of digestive health.
'A number of carbohydrates are quite complex and can only be digested by enzymes made by gut microbes.
'We found that when the mice were given the bacterial strains found in the yogurt, at doses comparable to those consumed by humans, they could more efficiently break down certain classes of carbohydrates.'
Our guts contain millions of bacteria known collectively as the microbiota.

 

This complex system works to break down certain nutrients that our bodies could not otherwise digest, prevents the growth of harmful bacteria, produces nutrients such as vitamin K and biotin as well as hormones to tell our bodies when to store fat.
The research, which was published in Science Translational Medicine, could help scientists analyse the many health claims made by makers of probiotic yoghurts.
'This is a proof of principle. We have developed an approach to test the health effects of probiotics that focuses on how those microbes influence the dynamic operations of our gut microbial communities,' Dr Gordon said.
He added that their long-term goal was to develop ways to improve the nutritional value of the foods we eat.

IGNORANT CRITICISIMS OF PSYCHICS

 

FORTUNE TELLERS GIVE PSYCHICS AND MEDIUMS A BAD NAME

As a working psychic medium I feel I need to yet touch on this subject matter again owing to the forums I see on the internet and the ratings and feed back given to us in the profession.

I will say and agree that there are many charlatans in my profession but equally there are many excellent psychic mediums too. However before you start to criticise us, you need to have a basic understanding of how the laws of the Universe work and also many so called Psychics will jump down my throat when I say this, "It's impossible to foretell the future". The genuine psychics and mediums amongst us will understand this, but let me explain.

We are all subject in life and after death to the laws of the Universe, namely there is cause and effect, every thought and deed we have and do will cause ripples of energy and effect others. One you will know well as 'Karma' i.e. you are accountable for all your actions and what you give out you will get back tenfold, us Spiritualists know this as 'Compensation and retribution for all souls'. To put it even simpler, if you bear bad thoughts and actions towards others you will have to pay for it either in this lifetime or in another but positively if you do good deeds and think positively for others you will be rewarded. Positive thoughts and deeds attract positivity and likewise negativity attracts negativity. This is known as the 'law of attraction'.

How this transpires is whilst we are in spirit before we incarnate, we know our faults and failings and  WE choose to work on those to make our souls purer, so we choose experiences and challenges some of which is to payback for what we have done before. We also through every lifetime wish to experience  all aspects of life, the good and the bad to enrich our souls and the older our soul the tougher the challenges these tend to be. But think about this, if we knew what was ahead of us in our lifetime, especially the not so good, would we wish to go through with it? probably not, so our memory is wiped from our 'physical mind' our souls however retain this memory and this can be explained as our 'higher self or intuition'. Life is not easy on Earth it was never intended to be for Earth is our classroom and we are all incarnated on Earth to learn and grow. We thus have this soul memory of what we need do, but the Universe and spirit want us to learn from our mistakes, they want us to choose for ourselves to learn willingly so they give us 'Free will'.

Now what has all this got to do with Psychics and Mediums? it is the 'Free will' that complicates readings, we can see your soul path, we are sensitive enough to attune to your souls, but we have no control over your 'Free will'. Sometimes our guides and helpers will only give some information and not the desperate information you long for, this is because, either there is a soul challenge for you or another party involved. So can you see how it is impossible to be 100% accurate. Guides will only give some information if it will not impinge YOUR chosen destiny. Our personal guides and helpers and loved ones in spirit want to help us get through those challenges, so they will help us meet like minded souls to help us along the way. This may be the understanding friend, who has been though these type of experiences themselves who in turn can support you through your soul lesson. Sometimes these people will be here for a few days, the transient or the long standing but rest assured Spirit will never let you fall so far you cannot get up.

One common criticism I see on these forums arise through ignorance, and that is, 'If psychics could tell the future they would know the lottery numbers' after all how many psychics do you know are lottery winners? The answer of course is none, not because we are rubbish psychics but because genuine psychics and mediums are old souls and we are working at becoming purer souls, our challenge is to experience as much as possible and I can guarantee the genuine psychics and mediums amongst us will have had a tough life. This is because we need to have experienced all those awful things so we can be supportive and understanding and be able to show empathy to others.

Only the ignorant, young souls would come out with this. Only the ignorant and young souls would liken psychic mediums to fortune tellers. Indeed Psychic Mediums are NOT fortune tellers we are here to empathise, support and guide YOU through your challenges and sometimes we are given snippets of the future but only if it won't affect your progress. Mediums on the other hand also give 'Survival Evidence' of life after physical death. The future is not written in stone, you make your own destiny, YOU chose it and YOU alone are responsible for it.

Now if there are psychic mediums out there who read this and disagree with what I'm saying, I would question their motives, the word 'Charlatan' comes to mind.
